What looks like a normal day out riding soon turns into a nightmare caused by the reckless driver who obviously hasn’t checked with his lateral mirrors. Truth be told, the rider put himself in this hazardous situation, by simply driving past the car. Of course, the driver could have simply kept on moving forwards, but the rider assumed he would use the mirrors before changing lanes, and this turned out to be wrong.

Reckless drivers can be often seen performing incredible maneuvers on the roads without signaling and without checking their mirrors and one of the best ways for riders to stay out of trouble is being defensive, even a tad paranoid. In this case, deciding not to pass the car on the right side would have been a very wise idea.

Passing on the right means taking unnecessary risks, and the best way to prevent such a stupid crash is to simply avoid placing yourself in hazardous situations over which you no longer have any control. Follow the link for two instructive pieces on why riders crash more often in the spring and the 8 biggest mistakes rookies make.
