Karen, meet your grandmother. A woman dubbed “Grandkaren” has become the latest viral star over her useless but still very loud complaints that a bunch of kids were allowed to drive a Power Wheels car without a proper driver’s license.
This sounds almost too silly, but it actually happened. The video popped up on TikTok sometime last week, after the presumed mother of the kids filmed the woman, Karen / Grandkaren, complaining about how the kids were putting everyone in danger with their reckless driving.
Yes, Karen was talking about a Power Wheels car. Yes, she actually said that the kids didn’t have a driver’s license. Yes, she also said the mother needed “to be with [the kid]” because he was driving unsupervised. If Karen could issue fines, she would have cashed in a small fortune.
“What bothers me is you have a little kid in here and he doesn’t have a driver’s license,” the woman is heard saying. “He’s just a little kid! You’re not with him!” The mother’s reply that “It’s a toy car!” doesn’t seem to register with Karen, who keeps on and on about how she’s never seen such reckless behavior.
All jokes aside, Power Wheels cars are toy cars and, as such, they can be operated without the parent constantly helicoptering about. And definitely without a driver’s license, which is hilarious to even suggest in any type of context.
Some of these cars go as slow as 2 mph (3.2 kph) but you can also find faster models that will reach 6 mph (9.6 kph). Many come with parental locks and are made to come to a full stop immediately after the kid releases the accelerator. In other words, they’re meant to introduce kids to the joys of actual driving while keeping them safe. Karen could have understood that with just a dash of common sense.
