Samsung is currently the world’s number one phone maker, so naturally, it’s also the top brand people rely on when trying to run Android Auto in their cars.
And given the number of bugs Android Auto is hitting these days, it goes without saying Samsung’s devices are often involved in the struggle to make the experience behind the wheel more stable and reliable.
Back in June 2020, someone reported an error that nobody knew exactly why was happening and therefore is still around today: Samsung devices are hit with a “moisture detected” error when launching Android Auto, so the app is blocked from running.
Needless to say, the whole thing happens without the phone actually being exposed to liquids, and plugging it into a charger works just as expected.
Google, at one point, said it was investigating, but here we are more than six months later with the problem still around and users still struggling to find a way to get rid of this error.
“My S20+ had issues with plugging things into the port (when it was just two weeks old). As per Samsung, I took it to an authorized shop and they cleaned it and I carried on. Two weeks later, I have the moisture detected. I am so frustrated. I've had the phone for 2 months and it has me wanting an iPhone,” one user explains.
There are various workarounds for this problem, though they don’t fix things for everyone. Someone says you should just wait for the head unit to boot up and only then connect the smartphone, while a different post claims you need to connect and disconnect the phone while the car is still running to be able to run Android Auto properly.
In the meantime, Google is still investigating, apparently, so you’d better not hold your breath for a fix. A new Android Auto update is coming later this month, so fingers crossed for some improvements in this regard.
