Who Said Santa Claus Can’t Use a McLaren 650S GT3 Racecar?

Now that the magical night when Santa Claus might or might not demonstrate his existence is approaching fast, it’s time for the age-old debate on which car our favorite gift deliverer should use.

For this year, we see Santa in a McLaren. And we’re not talking about the kind of Woking machines you’ll drool over while waiting for the traffic light to turn green. Instead, the bearded man in the red suit could climb your driveway in a 650S GT3 racecar.

As alpine ski racer John Olsson has shown in the digital world (unfortunately, the Mac shown here is a mere rendering), supercars can make good winter utility vehicles.

The digital artist who came up with the Lapland-savvy McLaren gifted it with a roof box, while the massive splitter featured on the standard car serves as a snow plow. While not visible here, the also-standard front wing louvres could serve as the perfect tools for throwing some of the extra snow away in a spectacular fashion.

Sure, there might be one or two issues with the ground clearance here, but there’s nothing a custom vehicle lift system can’t solve.

While the GT3 incarnation doesn’t pack such a feature, we’re reminding you the street-legal 650S can be gifted with a vehicle lift feature that increases ground clearance at both axles (plus 40 mm at the front and plus 25 mm at the rear).

The system remains active up to a speed of 37 mph (60 km/h) and the customization job wouldn’t be exactly easy, since the suspension geometry for this position doesn’t exactly keep the handling sharp. Still, Santa has a lot of Christmas elves to work with, so perhaps a solution could be found.

Er... no. Don't expect an SUV to roll out the Woking factory gates anytime soon. In fact, we’ve recently talked about why McLaren won’t build an SUV, at least for now.
