White, Fluffy Teddy Bear Is the Ultimate Stuffed Toy, It Moves and Reacts to Your Mood

Remember "Ted", that comedy/fantasy starring Mark Wahlberg, with the teddy bear that comes to life? How cool would it be to have such a talking and walking stuffed toy as your best friend? Anima Robotics tries to make that dream come true with its state-of-the-art robot.

Teddy is a white bear but described by its creators as the world’s first humanoid robot for the home. The robot weighs approximately 5 lb (2.2 kg), is around 19” (48 cm) tall, and its body is an endoskeleton made of polycarbonate, aluminum parts, and white polyester fur on the outside.

It is equipped with 13 reactive servo motors with 19 DOF (degrees of freedom) that allow it to move freely, and its technology enables it to act with empathy. It also features two cameras, two premium speakers, and a microphone. An AC charging supply that works with 110/220V is included with the toy, and the battery is replaceable. The robot runs for 60 minutes on battery power.

The robot bear tracks your mood using audio and video, identifying feelings such as fear, sadness, tiredness, worry, etc. Then, it reacts to your mood and registers your reaction, training its neural net on your data, to constantly improve itself.

There’s also a mobile app included with Teddy, and it’s compatible with both Android and iOS devices.

In order to bring Teddy to life, you have to set up its charging dock, download the mobile app to connect it to your WiFi network, and then you can just let the robot loose. A “skill store” will help you constantly enhance the bear's capabilities via newly developed apps, and customers will be notified every time Teddy developers create something new. You’ll also be able to chat with the fluffy bear, with Anima Robotics claiming that every conversation with Teddy will be completely unique and generated on the spot.

The smart, emphatic bear can be pre-ordered now for $100, while the entire price of the robot will be $3,000. Deliveries are scheduled to start in December 2022.
