White Contractor Shows Up at Black Family’s House With Confederate Flag on Truck

Much like those people saying they’re not racists because they have black friends, one dude from Atlanta, Georgia put a Confederate flag on his truck and refused to remove it even when he was told that it stood for racism and a dark era in American history.

The dude happens to be white, going by the name of Michael. To cap it all off, he happened to drive said truck with said flag over to a black couple’s home. Allison and Zeke Brown had contracted Michael to fix the brakes on their golf cart but they had never met in person. Zeke had had some conversations over Facebook with Michael, prior to meeting for the first – and last – time.

The incident was captured on the couple’s doorbell camera and shared on social media by the family. It has since been removed, but you know what they say, you can never take something off the Internet for good. The video has attained viral status since – you will also find it available at the bottom of the page.

The truck is seen pulling in on the driveway and Allison comes out. Before Michael even gets the chance to say too much, she informs him that his services are no longer wanted, but she does it in the most polite, elegant manner possible under the circumstances.

“Hi, you know what, I do apologize, I know you’ve come from a very long way, but we’re going to use someone else,” Allison says. When Michael offers to remove the flag, she replies: “No, you don’t need to take it down. You can continue to believe what you need to believe, sir. But no, I cannot pay you for your services. Thank you, have a good day.”

Speaking with Yahoo Lifestyle, Zeke says that Michael offered a half-apology after leaving, saying he had no idea that the Confederate flag would be offensive to a couple of African-Americans. Even after Zeke explained to him why it was offensive, comparing it to the Swastika employed by the Nazis, Michael still wouldn’t take it off his truck.

“My little siblings bought it from a flea market,” he says. “I don’t support slavery and neither do my siblings. But I am not going to take it down when my siblings asked me to fly it. If [the family] wants to take offense, they can.”

Michael describes himself as a “redneck” and says that the flag was in celebration for the 4th of July.
