Not many Pagani owners are crazy enough (we obviously mean this in a good way) to use their Italian exotics as daily drivers. As a result, a Huayra with a flat battery shouldn't come as a surprise.
Such an electrical crisis took place during a charity event held over the weekend in Warminster, PA, where a Huayra was left stranded due to a dead battery.
The high-octane beast was in select company, as it had joined a Mosler Raptor GTR, a Saleen Aero SSC, a Mclaren P1 and a Porsche 918 Spyder. The hypercars were supposed to put their horsepower to work for the benefit of disadvantaged children, but the velocity display was paused, with participants rushing to find a solution for brining the Huayra back to life.
Jumper cables were quickly brought to the site, with a BMW X6 M offering to play the role of the donor. It obviously didn't take long for the situation to be sorted out and the moment when the twin-turbo 6.0-liter AMG-supplied V12 woke up showed the hassle was worth it. After all, we're talking about an engine that delivers 720 horses and 738 lb-ft of twist (metric system fans should make that 730 PS and 1,000 Nm). The Pagani soon returned to its speed-related activities, delivering thrills while serving the noble cause mentioned above.
This story reminds us of the electrically distressed LaFerrari we showed you earlier today. Nevertheless, given the hybrid powertrain of the Maranello halo car, a flat battery in a LaF can easily lead to expensive servicing attention, so the owner took the risk of charging his car while this was parked on a street in Paris, all with a scotch paper improvisation. Oh well, at least the Ferrari seems to have had the same luck as the Pagani, with both Italian temptresses finally making it through.
