When She’s Over F1, Susie Wolff Will Train Younger Female Drivers for the Track

Whether or not she’ll back off from the Formula One competition next season has yet to be decided, but whenever that moment comes, Susie Wolff wants to make sure future generations of F1 female drivers will get the right training they deserve. The only woman to race in the competition in more than 20 years says she will personally take care of this.

Long hours of training with the best pro drivers in the industry and even a husband who happens to be the leader of Mercedes’ motorsport team won’t help her hit the track if Wolff doesn't prove she has what it takes. And to do that, the 32-year-old racer states she needs to stay on the track as much as possible. Unfortunately, according to CNN, she is now considering abandoning the sport because of a lack of opportunities.

As big fans of the sport, we have always wondered if Susie Wolff is willing to give up on her childhood dream so easily. It turns out she’s not quite giving up if that moment comes soon.

“Ultimately we need more young girls racing between the ages of 8 and 12 for the best to rise to the top,” she told Harper's Bazaar. “When I finish my racing career, it's something I'm going to dedicate time to.” The fashion magazine is running a campaign called “Women Who Dare” and Susie Wolff was one of the celebrities who were asked to participate.

There's one more thing. The first female pro driver to hit the F1 track in more than 20 years has yet to race a Grand Prix event; after all, that’s where the real rubber turns to fume under the pressure of g-force and speed. So perhaps Wolff has still a couple of aces left to play. Even so, we can’t but tip our hats to her decision to pass some of her experience to younger generations.
