The image we have here has quite a story to tell and while we're not just talking about the way in which these two Blue Oval performance icons meet, we'll start with that.
The accidental family reunion took place in rural Montana, as the owner of the young hot hatch states on Reddit, with the extremely limited Escort Cosworth population in the US making things even spicier compared to such a happening taking place over on the Old Continent.
"I was driving home when I saw this [the Cossie] driving in the opposite direction. I spun around and caught up with him. He noticed my Focus RS and immediately pulled over to take a look. He was just as excited to see my car as I was to see his! He was returning from an autocross event and I felt so lucky to have run into him. He bought the car around ten years ago from someone in Denver who had imported it. I was so taken aback by the coincidence and thought I would share with you all!" the gearhead explains.
Generation fascination aside, we have to mention the Mk III Focus RS isn't nearly as savage as the Escort Cosworth. In fact, he new uber-Focus doesn't even match its predecessor in terms of the hardcore driving experience. And that's a good thing.
It means that, despite the manual gearbox, you can easily use the 350 hp compact for daily driving. But when you take it to the track, the RS is still able to channel your inner demons.
Fret not, hooning enthusiasts - Ford Performance engineers have already been spotted testing an even more focused incarnation of the manic hatch, which should get the RS500 moniker.
The dual scheme sounds idea and the only issue would be Ford opting to turn the RS500 into a costly limited edition, as it did with the previous model.
