Wheeling Triumph Turns to Major Fail

When it comes to wheelies on public roads, things are rather clear: taking unnecessary risks, with fines, license suspension and even jail, in completion to wrecking bikes, additional property damage and serious injuries. So it’s all about balancing the outcome of such short moments of street glory against the potential gloomy outcome.
Now, with all sorts of riders posting videos on the Internet, the police have a much easier job finding the offenders, especially as they crash. Sooner or later, these fellows will need parts and work done to repair the damages they caused, and that is in case the cops don’t find them even faster. While choosing to obey or break the law is obviously up to each rider, another thing comes into mind.

For around $500 (€360) or so, pretty much any motorcycle can receive a very welcome upgrade in the shape of a steering damper. Of course, the damper will not make the rider any smarter, nor will it compensate for the mistakes he or she makes while on one wheel. Still, it could prevent wobbling and maybe give these fellows a chance to play it safe.

I know that very few such riders see things this way, but I guess that the costs of the bike repairs, new riding gear, fines, and road rash would in the end help them ask some reasonable questions. Until then I cannot help smiling at the huge irony of seeing so much fail coming from a Triumph…
