What to Expect from the Geneva Motor Show 2015

There’s a lot of talk going on today about the upcoming 2015 Detroit Auto Show. The 27th edition of the North American venue will host some impressive debuts but for BMW it won’t be a big deal. What will be though is the upcoming Geneva Motor Show that is supposed to host a couple of world premieres.

However, we won’t be talking only about BMW here but also about some of its rivals. While the Munich-based company made no official statement regarding what it will be bringing to Switzerland other already confirmed their line-up.

Opel will be bringing two world premieres with it, to make sure the smaller side of things is not left unsupervised. Even though it was introduced earlier this year, the latest Corsa model will get an OPC version that will be shown in the metal for the first time next spring. Alongside it we’re looking forward to admiring the Adam.

Audi is ready to bring out the big guns however. Despite having just a couple of extra inches at its disposal compared to the Corsa, the RS3 is in a completely different league if we’re to compare it to the OPC version of the Opel. And yet that’s where we’ll get to see the RS car for the first time, at Geneva.

Mercedes-Benz will reply with another ultra powerful model, the CLA45 AMG in Shooting Brake guise. Fitted with the same 2-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged mill making 360 HP and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque, it should be yet another home-run for the three pointed star manufacturer.

The BMW side of things

BMW, on the other hand, might introduce a little more than foreseen. First of all, we can expect the facelifted 1 Series to show up with its new LED headlights and LED fog lights. On top of that, the F30 3 Series LCI might also join the line-up but nothing is confirmed for now.

On top of that we’ll get to see the 7-seat version of the 2 Series Active Tourer or Gran Tourer if we’re to believe the latest rumors. It’s basically the same car but with around 20 extra centimeters (8 inches) in length to accommodate more people and luggage inside.

Of course, the facelifted 6 Series will also make an appearance alongside the new M6 models. Furthermore, the X5 M and X6 M models will be shown in the metal for the first time making this one of the biggest events of the year for BMW.

Next autumn, we’ll be seeing even more premieres at the Frankfurt Motor Show where the next 7 Series will be introduced alongside the much awaited M2.
