What The...?! Eminem Stars in Chrysler Ad, Drives a Caddy...

It's a weird, weird world... Since you're here on autoevolution, you probably heard about how Chrysler revived from its own ashes and, with a little help coming from the Italians within the Fiat Group, it managed to step out of bankruptcy protection. Now that things are much better, Chrysler works on its image, and how else could it do that if not by buying some air time during Super Bowl XLV on Sunday?

Nothing uncanny so far. So the guys over at Chrysler decided to invest some money into advertisements but, in order to set up a successful campaign, it had to find somebody representative for the company's roots. It picked Eminem, the famous rapper that comes from the same city (or should we say motor city?) as Chrysler - Detroit.

The commercial was aired during the Super Bowl finale and, to be honest, it really impressed us. It has that special bit that gives you goosebumps. Anyway, it was all OK until a few minutes ago when we found this.

The adjacent image shows Eminem stepping out of a Cadillac Escalade which most likely belongs to him, so things do not quite match. He drives a Caddy but he's the image of the new Chrysler 200. And just read what Chrysler said about the advertisement:

"'Born of Fire' is designed to generate conversation about the brand and the new 2011 Chrysler 200. The spot reflects where the brand is headed and pays tribute to our industrial roots," said Olivier Francois, President and CEO, Chrysler Brand and Lead Executive for Marketing,

Well, to be honest, it surely did generate some conversation here at autoevolution, too bad it made some laugh too...
