What If the Lamborghini Aventador Successor Ends Up Looking Like an SC20 Coupe?

The supercar market ultimately boils down to two legendary Italian brands, and while Ferrari has developed several flavors of V8 and V12 beasts in the past decade we've largely been "stuck" with Lamborghini's Huracan and Aventador.

The two mid-engined legends haven't exactly stagnated, but we're coming to a point where the successor to the mighty Aventador needs to be discussed. And a few digital artists think Sant'Agata Bolognese is dropping hints with its latest one-off, the SC20.

SC stands for Squadra Corse, Lamborghini's sports division. This is their second collaboration with Centro Stile, the design division, two years after the SC18. The new car takes the form of a speedster with no windshield and is said to be based around the Aventador SVJ Roadster but embodying the crazy spirit of the Aventador J and the Veneno.

While the car is built to special order and won't have any duplicate copies, some rendering artists immediately thought that it might be a preview for the Aventador's successor, which is coming a few years down the line. That's why you'll see a process video where YouTuber TheSketchMonkey converted it into a coupe. But the same transformation can also be viewed below that in a social media post by superrenderscars.

Even though it's a very old car, the proportions of the Aventador remain pretty exotic-looking. Thus, the SC20 just has to add interesting modern features. For us, the most attractive features are the taillights, which look similar to the ones on the Sian and in turn pay homage to the Countach.

Also, the black aero elements stand out over the pearl body of the SC20, drawing attention to how they wrap around the front and rear bumpers. For the one-off, Lamborghini chose to use a naturally aspirated V12 engine offering 770 of those juicy Italian horses of power. However, many expect the Aventador's successor to transition into a hybrid V12 setup.

It would still sound raw, but electric motors would fill in the gaps in performance while perhaps introducing some new form of torque vectoring. Some rumors talk of over 1,000 horsepower, which frankly sounds too good to be true.
