We're pretty sure many of those who follow the Porsche realm have wondered why Rauh-Welt Begriff, one of the strongest names on the Zuffenhausen-related aftermarket scene, doesn't work on brand spanking new 911s.
There's a reason why the Japanese tuner only applies its opinion-splitting widebody kits to air-cooled Neunelfers. Tradition aside, the newer machines have a perfect assembly aura that doesn't resonate with RWB's ways.
As you know, we're talking about a one-man show here, with Akira Nakai building each kit by hand, working with carbon fiber and finger-shaped sealant (to fill the obvious panel gaps).
With Nakai-san having turned the rebodying job into art, his attractively imperfect work would need quite a change in order to fit the newer Neunelfers.
Then there's the owners' attitude. With brand new 911s wearing the typical Porsche financial burden, not all those who drive them are not exactly prepared to let an artist play with their pride and joy. For one thing, installing such a kit requires cutting into the fenders of the car, which obviously means entering body warranty territory. With Porsche allowing its customers to extend their warranty, the problem with the aftermarket approach is more than obvious.
Coming from digital artist Javier Oquendo, the image portrays a 991-generation 911 GT3 fitted with a kit that, to us, looks like a... modernized version of what Rauh-Welt Begriff delivers. And we haven't even reached the plot twist.
That title goes to the lack of a rear wing. We'll remind you RWB kits come with wings that make the already-generous factory wing of the GT3 look undersized. And that's why dreams will always be dreams.
