What Happened to the Craziest VW Bus Ever?

It was back in 2011 when the world was treated with a little taste of what could probably be labeled as the wackiest Volkswagen Bus ever. While the adjacent images offer us a brief view of the project, we haven’t heard from it since.
We have to admit it - not much of the original T1 Bus was left when this road-going dirigible was created, but the split screen aura is here and that’s all that matters. The project was featured on Fox Sport South’s “What Would Mike Do?” show, with customization aficionado Mike Brown initiating newcomers into the secrets of this wonderful world.

The starting point was a 1957 Volkswagen Microbus, but one of the apprentices somehow managed to destroy the car. As a result, the crew decided to build another one from scratch, with only a few parts of the original being used.

Believe it or not, this Bus was just as special under the skin. That’s because its dimensions allowed it to house a drag-style custom motorcycle, which the car used as an... engine. Mike said the bike could take the entire contraption to “interstate speeds”.

The bike could be removed from the VW and used in a normal fashion, while the eviscerated Bus waited on the side of the road until your riding fantasies were fulfilled. Yes, this was some sort of an ultimate trailer - who knows, maybe you could even use the HOV lanes, not that the creature was street legal or anything.

Sadly, we haven’t seen this Volkswagen monster ever since and we were wondering if some lucky guy or girl out there is enjoying its steampunk charms.
