It’s hard to believe, but Chevrolet did the impossible with the dual-clutch transmission, mid-engined Corvette Stingray for 2020. At under $60,000 including freight, it’s a bit of a bargain by all accounts.
The big question is, what do you get for double the price of the Mazda MX-5 Miata and a few bucks more than the MSRP of the Porsche 718 Cayman? For starters, the 1LT is described as “the car for driving purists who want the lightest Stingray possible, but one that's still very well equipped.”

Eight-way GT1 power seats wrapped in Mulan leather upholstery, keyless access, push-button start, valet mode, dual-zone climate control, HD Rear Vision Camera, Rear Park Assist, and a flat-bottom steering wheel open the list. Moving on, customers are treated to Bose premium audio, 10 speakers, SiriusXM satellite radio with three months for free, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 12-inch digital instrument cluster, illuminated vanity mirrors, tilt/telescoping steering column, and a removable roof for open-air driving.

Chevy Dude went through all this equipment in his 10-minute video of the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray 1LT, a black example of the breed with the Carbon Flash open-spoke alloy wheels. Even without the Z51 Performance Package for go-faster enthusiasts, the ‘Vette still looks very good!

What’s even more impressive is the quality of the materials the golden bowtie utilized for the interior of the car, along with the tons of storage space in the front and rear trunks. Popping the hood further reveals an engine bay that makes men grow weak in the knees, dominated by the 6.2-liter V8 codenamed LT2.

Connected from the get-go to a fast-shifting DCT instead of the previous seven-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission, the small-block engine develops 490 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque. That’s enough for 194 miles per hour and a 0-to-60 you wouldn’t believe possible at this price.

Opting for the Z51 Performance Package drops the acceleration time to under three seconds, which is all the more impressive given that the Stingray is the lowliest ‘Vette on sale at dealerships nationwide.
