We have watched this video several times, but the only explanation remained the one we thought of after seeing this crash for the first time: the white car brakes all of a sudden, catching the two ATV riders behind unaware and with barely an option to avoid the impact.
While the first quad had some room to pass the car squeezing between it and the guard rail, it was all too late for the second rider. Left with insufficient space to swerve around the car, and most likely seeing the bus approaching from the opposite lane, braking as hard as possible seemed the last thing to do.

Now, we also believe the ATVs were kind of speeding prior to the white car braking so hard, otherwise the riders would have had plenty of time to slow and stop.
