Weber Denies Money Talks between Ferrari and Schumacher

Following the rumors that appeared in the Spanish media regarding the amount of money Michael Schumacher will earn per race in 2009 – Diario AS revealed the sum is close to 3.2 million euros – his manager Willi Webber issued a quick clarification. As far as the German manager is concerned, his client has not yet discussed a sum of money with the Ferrari representatives.

Weber insisted that Schumacher agreed to replace injured Felipe Massa without talking money first, but did admit that no driver managed by him ever drove for free. “And the same is true for the future as well,” said the 67-year old in an interview with Germany's Bild Zeitung newspaper.

No. We haven't spoken about that yet,” added Weber, referring to the financial clauses of Schu's return. “In all honestly, we haven't spoken about money and nor will we do so in the coming weeks. At the moment that's not important,” concluded Weber.

Indeed, Schumacher is not even sure he will be able to return to racing from as early as the European Grand Prix, as he'll have to check with his doctors first. The 40-year German will undergo a fitness programme in order to get in shape for the Valencia race, while also dieting to get rid of the extra kilograms.

In addition, Schu will this weekend test a Ferrari F2007 at Mugello – via Ferrari's “F1 Clienti” department – in order to see if the neck injury that he'd sustained earlier this year following a motorcycle crash will have cured completely.

Also, the German driver will have to apply for a new FIA super license, as his former one expired at the end of 2006.
