Webber Says Unlikely to Switch Teams

Webber could switch teams at the end of the 2011 Formula 1 season, but that prospect is unlikely, admits the Australian driver ahead of this weekend's Turkish Grand Prix. Asked by the reporters in Istanbul to piggyback on his statements last week, according to which he may leave Red Bull for another team next season, Webber downplayed the possibility.

Some guys asked me [last week] what is going on for next year - and I said three things: Stay here, or stop, or go somewhere else, which is probably unlikely,” said Webber, according to Autosport.

It can all happen. I am in good contact with the team obviously and every year we have done the same. It is obviously down a lot to how I feel about things, and we will see how we feel later in the year,” he added, leaving the door open to speculation once more.

Curiously enough, his comments come right ahead of the Turkish Grand Prix, the place where he made contact with teammate Sebastian Vettel – and took him out of the running – while leading the race last year. That move attracted plenty of criticism from his own boss and manager and set the grounds for a feud – at least from a media standpoint – between the two Red Bull drivers.

Since his time at Red Bull has been nothing short of productive in the last couple of years, the 34-year old's main option would be to stay at Milton Keynes, despite recent rumors linking Felipe Massa, Nico Rosberg or one of the STR drivers to his seat next season. However, he made it very clear that a continuation of his deal would not come down to the results, but to what he'll decided for the future of his career.

We know the window in my career where I was thinking about it [quitting], it didn't happen. I came to Red Bull and we've done some great things together. So, there are still lot of big boxes together and hopefully we can do some great things,” he added.

That is the good thing about it. We realise how many good things we have done together, and there is a good chance of doing some very good things together in the future. Whether it ends this year, or I go again next year – it doesn't depend on results. The results will be fine. It depends on how I feel.”
