Webber Ponders Team Switch for 2012

Mark Webber seems to have had a change of heart in regards to his future with Red Bull in Formula 1. Or at least he's starting to reconsider his position on that topic, after initially telling the media that he'll retire from the sport should the Austrian team decide not to renew his deal for an additional season.

Webber's contract with Red Bull expires at the end of this year and the title-winning squad is yet to approach the Aussie for an extension. However, if the 34-year old started the season with the aforementioned thought in mind, he is now pondering a potential switch to another team in 2012.

Ferrari has recently been ruled as a possible destination for Webber, should Felipe Massa fail to raise his game in 2011. And to further fire up the rumor mill, the Australian now confirms he would be open for discussions with another team if Red Bull doesn't come to the negotiations table sooner rather than later.

I have my flaws, but I'm determined,” Webber is quoted as saying to Italy's La Stampa newspaper. “Last year I fought for the title, and I want to go for it again. I'm relaxed and I feel I can do it, until the end.

When the season ends my contract with Red Bull will expire. I don't think a possible renewal depends on the results. I want to win for myself too. We'll see. If the team doesn't want me anymore, I will have to respond to a good question: to hang up the helmet, or to change teams?
