Webber Burst at the Media for Irvine Comparison

Mark Webber reacted angrily to a question posed by a journalist in China earlier today, who made a parallel between his situation within the Red Bull organization in the year 2011 and that of Irish driver Eddie Irvine, when he was driving alongside Michael Schumacher at Ferrari, in the late '90s.

To be more precise, the question was about Irvine's comments at a time when Schumacher was beating him constantly on Sundays (during the 1998 season), causing the Ulsterman to say he feels like being struck in the head with a baseball bat.

Come 2011, when Vettel has won the last 4 races in Formula 1 and has outperformed his Red Bull colleague in the past 5 races, and the media started looking for similarities, especially since Vettel's nickname in the Great Circus is “baby Schu”. The question did not rest well with the 34-year old Aussie however.

Absolutely f****** ludicrous question mate!” he burst. “You've known me long enough, you've known me long enough. Five wins in a row? Yeah but that doesn't mean... he's not just beaten me. He's beaten everyone. So no one will turn up then! We may as well all stay at home.

That's what a competitor does [come back fighting]," he added. "Nothing lasts forever. That's the way it goes. Like I said he is doing a good job and Malaysia was close between us. Tough first lap [for me], but that's what happens. Come here, see how we go... I think... I'll stop there.”

Additionally, he insisted that he's not too worried about his poor start of the season, as his experience in F1 has taught him that good periods come and go in the series and what matters is he must continue to push hard weekend in and out.

I have been around long enough to understand that I have had some very good seasons in the last few years, and people always make the natural comparison between your team-mates and all that sort of stuff,” he added.
