Webber Admits Fault, Doesn't Give Up on F1 Title

Needless to say, all the chaotic events in Korea have spiced up the title fight a bit, as there are now 4 drivers within one race win – that’s what separates championship leader Fernando Alonso from 4th placed Sebastian Vettel – with 2 races to go.

And even if he walked away from the Yeongam circuit empty handed, former leader of the F1 classification Mark Webber continues to hope for his first ever title in the Great Circus. The Australian driver lost control of his car a few laps after the Safety Car went in and crashed into the wall, while later taking Mercedes’ Nico Rosberg with him out of the race.

And for that, Webber admits he is the only one to blame, as what happened on track was clearly a driving mistake.

Totally my fault. I got a wheel on the kerb on the exit of Turn 12 and it was a very slow motion moment off the back of it. Totally my mistake. Today isn't my day,” he told the BBC after the race.

It was a very long one (slide), frustrating. I thought I had done enough but in the end it wasn't enough. The wall obviously was close and did some damage and then I wrecked Nico's race as well. It brings me back to them on points and we are all back together again so we go to the final two races.

However, with only 11 points of deficit from Fernando Alonso in the title hunt, Webber is anything but resigned, especially since there are 50 more points to fight for until the last chequered flag of the season.

Positions are not really important at the moment, the points are the important thing. They can change very quickly and this is my second non-finish of the year, but there are still two races to go and I will do my absolute best.
