We Didn’t Know Ferrari Worked on the Toyobaru Project

As the Toyobaru is heading towards its mid-cycle update, a new and surprising bit of info has arisen: Ferrari was in on the deal. We were a bit surprised to find out Maranello joined Toyota and Subaru in their effort to make an affordable sportscar. Perhaps this was actually the case, or maybe we’re just dealing with a guy who can’t help but put Ferrari badges on Scion FR-S models.

We tend to believe the latter situation is more plausible, and yet the mystery continues. With images of the Yellow FRSerrari (we’ve decided to give it this name) having surfaced on Reddit, the community started fretting and came up with the photo of the Black FRSerrari.

The two cars have the same number plate, with the Black one appearing to be the older “build.” So yes, this is the case of a man who is desperate to display the Prancing Horse badges, but always ends up with a Scion FR-S.

The man has quite a faux badging ritual, even introducing the Scuderia Ferrari shields on the front wings - these are an option on the actual Ferraris. Oh, and there’s one more detail we need to mention - the man goes as far as replacing the factory wheels with ones that appear to be Ferrari replica rollers.

While the Black car is an FR-S that had simply received the awkward transformation mentioned above, the Yellow one is the FR-S RS 01 edition. With a limited run of 1,500 units, this packs a number of small changes, with the custom front and rear aprons being the most visible ones. Still, the owner has turned to black areas in order to cover both the Scion and the TRD branding on the car.

Oh well, the guy could probably trick a few people into believing he owns a small Prancing Hoarse...
