Waze continues to be one of the most popular navigation apps out there, and for many drivers, it has become a must-have part of their digital arsenal when getting behind the wheel.
But there’s a little something that Waze has somehow lacked till now. It’s a full dark mode, which for some reason, never became a priority, despite so many updates released by the Google-owned company.
And yet, it now looks like Waze is giving the final touches to this full dark mode for the mobile application, with users in the beta program reportedly trying it out as we speak.
Waze already comes with a dark mode that’s widely available for all users out there, but it only covers the map and not the rest of the app’s interface. In other words, while the dark mode is indeed being used for the navigation map and the provided directions, once you open the main menu or the settings, the same old light visual style is displayed.
Waze is apparently planning to deal with this shortcoming rather sooner than later, and a recent beta build shipped to testers enables this full dark mode.
This means the entire app will be able to switch to this visual style, and most likely, Waze will offer a dedicated toggle to let users enable or disable the light and the dark themes.
At this point, however, the feature is only available for a handful of testers, and it’s not known when the parent company plans to begin the global rollout to users out there.
In the meantime, Waze has other things to focus on. The most recent updates released to iPhone users are causing an audio nightmare on CarPlay, as Waze takes over all sound controls in the cabin.
This means users can no longer control the volume of the music or the phone call, as using the dedicated buttons on the steering wheel only adjusts the navigation guidance.
