Waze for CarPlay Receives Another Important Update With Welcome Bug Fixes

Waze is already one of the top choices for those who want to beat the traffic in crowded cities, and naturally, it’s a super-popular application in the CarPlay world too.

The last few updates, however, have turned Waze into a superstar, as the Google-owned company finally added highly anticipated functionality, such as the support for the dashboard.

And while the addition of this feature is undoubtedly good news, the Waze team has been hard at work on bringing more goodies to users on CarPlay. As a result, December has already witnessed the debut of two different updates.

The first of them was version 4.69, which marked the debut of the CarPlay dashboard support for Waze users. One day later, Waze returned with another update, this time to version 4.69.2, and according to the official changelog, this one brought a critical fix aimed at the way alerts are displayed on the screen.

This version fixes “a bug so traffic alerts are easy to read in both landscape or portrait mode,” the release notes read.

Needless to say, this update is also good news for iPhone users, as no matter how they use their smartphones, Waze should now properly display all alerts.

In the meantime, the dashboard support remains the new thing people love the most about Waze on CarPlay. With this feature, Waze can run side by side with other apps, such as music players, and display route information in its very own dedicated card, thus replacing Apple Maps and Google Maps.

Enabling Waze on the dashboard is as easy as it could be, as the CarPlay multi-view screen always displays the latest navigation app you’ve used. In other words, just open Waze and then switch back to the dashboard, so you should see the app running in the map card, in the place where Apple Maps used to be by default.
