Since Paris is determined to slow down its traffic for less accidents and cleaner air, maybe electric vehicle companies will benefit from the decision. Why would you even bother driving a classic powered car if you’re stuck at 30 km/h (18.6 mph) when you can do the boring task in an EV for less cash?
Coincidence or not, a new car sharing program is about to make debut in France this month, mostly targeting people who travel by train, further providing them mobility in the city, be it business or sightseeing.

Starting with June 19th, four Wattmobile centers will be deployed simultaneously in four train station - Lille, Paris Gare de Lyon, Marseille and Lyon. Each center will offer 10 electric vehicles, comprising six Renault Twizy and 4 scooters, boasting 100 respectively 60 km range.

Each user can make an online reservation and retrieve a vehicle via an RFID card which is also used as an “ignition key”. If two wheels aren’t your thing, we guarantee a lot of fun in the Renault Twizy. And it’s simple to use too - just buckle up, turn it on and press the go pedal. You also have room for a passenger and small bags.

As for the amount of cash you need for such services, the company charges €1.5/€2 ($2/$2.72) for 15 minutes depending if you want the scooter or the Twizy. If you need one for the whole day you’ll need to take out €48/€64 ($65/$87).

Wattmobile also said it will increase the number of EV stations to 20 just a month later, available in 15 cities, so you'd better be prepared for electric propulsion.
