Watching this Porsche 911 Turbo S Catching Fire Makes Our Eyes Hurt

Ever watched one of those stupid rap videos when they stir hundred-dollar bills in a jar, poor gasoline in and lit them on fire? Well, watching a $200,000 worth German sportscar is a lot worse. You can almost hear it’s inner scream as the 560 ponies sitting under the bonnet helplessly watch their end. It’s sad.

What’s even sadder is that it really happened. It appears the 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo S sportscar was burned to the ground a couple of days ago in a Costco parking lot in El Segundo, California. Smoke was first sighted by passer-byes and by the time its owner returned, huge flames were eating the expensive two-seater alive.

The car started smoking a few rows downwind of where I parked, I moved my car upwind of it and saw the flame action,” a witness who filmed the entire scene and posted the video on YouTube told to HotRod. It appears the sheetmetal was destroyed as the firemen took it apart to make sure there were no hot spots left after killing the fire. Sure, a car that expensive is most likely insured, so we’re pretty sure the owner we’ll get a new one in no time.

We’re not saying it’s the first time we wrote about similar incidents, but this would normally be vandalism cases, where specific people are targeted. We’re thinking of the rich Londoner who calls himself Lord Aleem and who was targeted by several arson attacks last summer. The 19-year old Brit is the son of a luxury auto dealership owner so he was always bragging about his Rolls and Lamborghinis on social networks.

First he found his Lamborghini Aventador Roadster torched by vandals, an then another two Audi R8s and a Bentley Flying Spur were lit on fire by three unidentified men. Still no word on who were the attackers. Like we said, this unfortunately happens, but flames bursting out of a car all of the sudden is not really common... unless you remember that whole GT3 incident.
