The new, liquid-cooled (hence the LC suffix) BMW R1200GS is a cool bike, this goes without saying, but there is still a lot of room for improvements. Our favorite BMW modders Wunderlich have not wasted their time and worked hard to prepare a Scrambler version of the new R1200GS, and now it’s time to enjoy bot on- and even cooler off-the-road action with this stupendous machine.
The BMW specialists at Wunderlich rely on the creative and prolific mind of French designer Nicolas Petit, and each time the results are jaw-dropping. Yes, just like the 2013 R1200GS Scrambler is.
Petit added a hefty dose of retro styling to the boxer bike, with the classic high exhausts on either side, and bold new filters for the intake of each cylinder. Now, for the well-being of the bike, some foam could be used to cover the high-velocity filters when riding off-road.
An aluminium enduro handlebar and aggressive knobbies are of course, part of the fun. The engine is said to have been prepped by Franzen and it now delivers 143 horsepower at the wheel and 156 at the crankshaft, and this is really crazy riding on the tough, barren terrain.
We are also expecting a final price for the full makeover of the R1200GS LC. While a Wunderlich body kit is around €4,000 ($5,530), we might expect the Scrambler magic to be around €6,000 ($8,300).
