As thrilling and demanding as race tracks may be, it looks like the Bonneville Salt Flats remain the ultimate speed challenge. Here's the short story of Shunji Yokokawa, the fastest stock Honda CBR600RR rider in the world.
2013 has finally brought Shunji's the first occasion to fulfill his Bonneville dreams: after many long years of longing for the white salt flats, he made it in Utah with a 3-strong crew to help him in his shot at glory.

Though his first-ever contact with the Bonneville salt taught the whole team a very important lesson of what the Speed Week racing is all about, with crosswinds, the quest for traction and the ever-changing terrain, Shunji did not stray from his path.

He was clocked at 170.828 mph (274.862 km/h) thus establishing a new world land speed record. However, this success only prompted Shunji to think ahead and plan a return at Bonneville aboard a CBR 1000RR and try setting a new record.
