Watch the Horrible Moment a Biker Falls 250-Feet Off a Mountain Road

If you're planning on finally getting that motorcycle license and starting to experience that sensation of freedom that only riding on two wheels can offer, then you'd better not watch this video at all as it might put a stop to your plans.

Even more importantly, make sure your better half doesn't get a glimpse either - she's been nagging about it not being safe ever since you first mentioned it, so a biker falling 250-feet off a mountain road is the last thing you want her to see. Yes, he survived, but if a heated discussion erupts on the subject, you really don't want to bring up that argument.

No, what you want to do is promise her you will never ride your bike the way Matthew Murray does in this clip right before it all goes awfully wrong. He was clearly out to have some fun as the few seconds of footage before the crash show - but even if they didn't, why else would you take your bike up a mountain road?

Matthew claims the bike's steering system locked up and forced him off the road, but the video seems to show he just went too fast into that left-hand corner and physics simply won. He says he was doing 40 miles an hour, but the footage shows him entering the turn at over 60 mph.

The news coverage says Matt had six years of riding experience, but as any biker will tell you, all it takes is one mistake and it can happen to anyone. Luckily for Matthew, he somehow managed not only to survive the drop, but also make it up the steep incline and find help, despite having a number of broken bones and not being able to use his legs.

We think his saving grace was the fact he wore a full protection suit (you can still see his body armor on as he lies on the hospital bed) as well as the lush vegetation that must have cushioned his fall to a certain degree.

As impressive as his story is, Matthew has now sold his bike to raise money for his recovery. Hard to think he would have gotten back in the saddle of a motorcycle with "steering issues" after all this anyway.
