Taking your bike to a racing track is one truly neat way to spend a weekend, and in case you can ride your two-wheeler on a historic circuit only makes things even more exhilarating. Some riders travel big distances to reach these circuits adding the very trip to the wonderful experience of unleashing the bike on an asphalt strip which has seen the most glorious times of motorsport.
The Nurburgring Nordschleife is one of these places that draws drivers and riders alike, being open “for rent” and therefore highly popular. With the Nordschleife being located in the western part of Germany, many riders from nearby France, Belgium or the Netherlands find it easy to pit their bikes against this highly-demanding track.

Problem is that the Nurburgring Nordschleife has more to it than meets the eye. In fact, some of the turns are almost blind, so the eye doesn’t really see around the corner. With drops and uphill sectors, sudden changes of direction and an overall very demanding layout, the Nurburgring Nordschleife is anything but a dull track.

However, with the presence of cars and multiple crashes which occur during each session, it looks like coolant and oil spilled on the track are making things even more difficult and dangerous. Now, several of the crashes in the video after the jump are clearly rider errors, but many of them are obviously caused by sudden loss of grip.

We’ve heard both versions of the story and we’re not judging anyone. Still, it appears like riding hard through the Brünnchen turn is much easier said than done, so you’d better watch out if you’ll ever head for the Nordschleife.
