One of the most exciting new cars of this early autumn is probably the Mercedes-Benz GLE. Revealed on Wednesday by the Germans, the SUV looks like a lot of fun, while at the same time being serious about what it is capable of doing.
Following a full day of informing us about the serious side of the GLE, Mercedes decided it’s time to have a look at what the car can do to make its owners feel great.

In a video posted on Youtube – most likely first of a series of many – Mercedes show a lot of smiles, a GLE, and some surfing action. But most importantly, it also shows how the interior of the car can be configured to accommodate even large surfboards.

"The GLE exhibits iconic Mercedes-Benz design while remaining true to its character as an off-roader," said in a statement Gorden Wagener, Daimler’s head of design.

"With its design idiom, it perfectly embodies our design philosophy of sensual purity, thus representing modern luxury.”

Those wanting a GLE for beach excursions or whatever other fun trips would have to wait a little while before the car begin rolling off assembly lines. The SUV will arrive in dealerships in early 2019.

At first, only the GLE 450 4MATIC with a mild-hybrid system will be offered by Mercedes, adding only later diesel engines and a plug-in hybrid. The first variant to arrive will be powered by a 367 hp engine mated to a  9G-TRONIC automatic transmission and an EQ Boost system that would add an extra 22 hp to the troop.

The GLE is packed with technology, spearheaded by the updated MBUX infotainment system and ending with the E-Active Body Control.

The MBUX is also featured in the clip released by Mercedes, and you can see what it is all about in the video attached below.
