Watch the 2015 Dodge Challenger Hellcat Hit the Track, SRT Working on Aftermarket Parts

So far, we’ve seen the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat do all sorts of crazy stuff, from pulling Easter Egg moves on us to having ex-SRT CEO Ralph Gilles do a monster burnout in it. The time has come to watch the Hellcat tackle the track.

The clip below shows us the muscle car putting its 707 ponnies to work in order to lap the Portland International Raceway (PIR). The video, which comes from web2carz, sees Marco Diniz de Oliveira, SRT’s Vehicle Dynamics Engineer, taking the pumped-up Challenger around PIR.

The shenanigan was part of the media drive for the 2015 Challenger line-up, so the SRT man didn’t want to put too much stress on the Hellcat. Thus, you can forget all about the cornering deligths, as the man is light-footed when it comes to this - throught the fotoage, he only ends up countersteering once. Still, he did that on purpose, so there’s no Challenger Hellcat handling decripting to do here.

Before you jump to conclusions about the 4,260 lbs machine, let us remind you the 2014 Challenger SRT8 392 we drove earlier this year was nothing short of sweet through the twistied, whether we’re talking about staying on or off the grip.

What Marco did instead was to hammer the Hellcat down the straights. For one thing, Dodge has been advertising the TorqueFlite automatic Hellcat so far, since it’s pulled burnouts and quarter mile runs, but this time we get the manual.

The engineers does a sweet job with the Tremec six-speed transmission, pulling tricks like heel and toe downshifting

While they were there, the SRT guys also let it slip that they are working on aftermarket parts for the 2015 Challenger, with examples including a coilover suspension coming from either Bilstein, which does the shocks for the Hellcat, or Ohlins.

Without further ado, we’re inviting you to prepare for the supercharger whine symphony lurking behind the “play” button below.
