Before working for Top Gear, our favorite TV host, Richard Hammond, used to work for a variety of other publications. Back in the 90s he reviewed the brand new (back then) E46 3 Series and called it nothing short but "Perfect".
And we gladly agree. The E46 is one of the best 3ers ever made and Richard knew even back in 1998, when he shot this spot. Going over every possible forum about Bimmers you can find on the Internet, everyone will say the same.
The minor problems you might experience with the E46 are easily overpassed by the upsides and the robustness of the car. Even though Hammond complained about the car's immense array of electronic devices that might take away some of the sheer driving experience, we think it was just the right amount.
Today's cars for example, have way more electronic systems on board but no-one complains about it. That's because they work without you knowing it and they keep you safe. Also, the times have changed and we are now used to using more and more technology.
But we digress. The point is, you should watch what he has to say. It's a review done in a good, Hammond manner, before taking only on supercars and devoting his time to exploring Africa and what not.
Cheers to Jalopnik!
