Let’s face it - you never need an excuse for hooning a LaFerrari. And if you happen to be famous British radio figure Chris Evans, you can certainly get away with putting your own LaFerrari through its paces. Well, the DJ recently insisted on coming up with an excuse for diving his hypercar hard - he did it in the name of science, since the hooning took place on the Top Gear track.
While TG themselves haven’t managed to bring the LaFerrari onto Dunsfold airfield territory, the aforementioned feat took place over the weekend and had a much more noble cause. Simply called “Supercar Event”, this sees shotgun rides being sold for charity.
The concept is pretty effective too - Chris offered five rides in his 963 hp hybrid Ferrari, with the feat raising £5,000 ($8,500 or €6,260) at the current exchange rates). Those who got to ride in the Ferrari with the DJ enjoyed its special soundtrack, with one of them even getting his arm out the window to show his enthusiasm.
Oh and by the way, that is correct. Chris Evans does use a left-hand drive LaFerrari in the UK. The reason? The Prancing Horse didn’t bother building a RHD version (shame on them).
In case you were wondering, when the DJ took the wheel of Top Gear’s reasonably priced car, a Chevrolet Lacetti at the time, he did a time that placed him somewhere in the upper half of the board. As for the LaFerrari, it’s number one TG test track enemy is currently the Pagani Huayra, a car that gave The Stig’s fireproof clothing goosebumps.
