A couple of days ago Chevrolet unveiled two brand new vehicles for the 2015 model year, the City Express small van and the bi-fuel Silverado Heavy Duty truck, both of which will be displayed at the 2014 Chicago Auto Show ’til mid-February.
A rebadged version of the Nissan NV200, the 2015 City Express will go on sale this fall with a 2.0-liter inline-four engine that delivers 131 horsepower and 139 pound-feet of torque via a CVT transmission. The van offers 122.7 cubic feet of cargo room and a payload capacity of about 1,500 pounds.
Moving over to the Silverado HD CNG, the option is available on all 2500 and 3500 cab configurations (except 3500 dually models) and returns a total range of up to 650 miles. When running on CNG, the 6.0-liter engine produces 301 hp and 333 lb-ft of torque. Chevrolet says the CNG option can save more than $2,000 a year on a truck driven 26,000 miles if CNG is used 75-percent of the time.
