Watch and Learn: Patience Saves the Young Padawan, but Not This Time

Now, the short lesson in this video is that a “holeshot start” as the traffic light goes green can be dangerous, especially in Russia, where countless video show that running the red is a wide-spread plague. Some drivers might get unnerved by the fact that this rider, apparently at the help of a Yamaha two-wheeler, got in front of the first car in line, but this is a debatable issue. In case he went on the pedestrian crossing, as some idiots do, then their discontent is understandable.

However, with many drivers stopping meters before the traffic lights at intersections, seeing a biker filtering and passing in front is quite common. Because of the constructive particularities of the cars, drivers usually have a hard time observing the traffic light above them… whereas riders don’t.

Still, this has nothing to do with the way this accident takes place. The rider obviously can’t be blamed, for he dashed away after the green light was lit, and was hit by the driver who ran the red by seconds. Still, his decision to dart through the intersection unsuspecting and hoping all will be okay, turned out to be an empty hope. And his view of the right hand road blocked by the truck didn’t help at all either…
