Nothing beats a ride through the hills if you ask me. The trees, the curves, the sun, the smell of fresh air combined with that of gasoline and the raw engine sound does make for the best therapy you can get as a petrolhead. Still, don’t get carried away and act like this guy here.
The scenario above could easily make you feel very relaxed. And we all know what happens when you are chill on a bike. You either get carried away and lose focus on the road ahead, or you’ll just want to go faster.
This guy in the video goes for option numero due and thinks he’s some kind of MotoGP rider, but he’s obviously in the wrong place for that. He’s going downhill and is limited to one lane since the oncoming traffic is split into two lanes, for faster vehicles to overtake slower ones.
So, the motorcyclist wants to go fast, but that pushes him to cut wider angles into the turns to hit the apex. Which translates into getting out of his lane and into the oncoming ones.
Although cutting corners like this gives him an advantage, the whole maneuver is extremely dangerous, and you can see how his spirited ride could end pretty quick. There are two moments he encounters incoming traffic around the corners and manages to avoid them inches to spare.
One of the incoming vehicles was actually another rider who probably got the scare of his life seeing one of his own kin breaking the law and endangering him. I thought riders should be like brothers, not like enemies and take each other out on the streets.
In the end, nobody gets hurt, but let this be a reminder how you should not ride. Go out there, enjoy the scenery, the smell, and fresh mountain air, but don’t get fooled by the snaky road. Stay within the speed limit and never cross the line into the oncoming lane.
And by that, I don’t mean crossing the line with your wheels. They might be well inside your lane, but you hanging to the left in a lefthand corner near the apex are crossing the line with your body.
