Even though the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG in GT guise is electronically limited to 320 km/h (199 mph), the Germans from MotorVision managed to see a little more than that on the speedometer during a flat out ride on the Autobahn, and they have the video to prove it.
Having had its launch in a rather lukewarm fashion last Autumn, the SLS AMG GT differs from the “regular” SLS in a just a few tiny areas, but enough to give it a special badge and model designation – not to mention price.
The 20 more horsepower its 6.2-liter normally aspirated V8 engine makes more than the normal SLS AMG bring its total output to 591 hp, while the 650 Nm (479.4 lb ft) torque figure is the same. Along with a more direct and spontaneous Manual mode of the seven-speed double clutch trans-axle transmission, the GT is able to shave 0.1 seconds from the naught to 100 km/h (62 mph) time, bringing the total figure down to just 3.7 seconds.
It can also reach a 200 km/h (124 mph) speed in just 11.2 seconds from a stand still, while its top speed is, as we already said, electronically limited to 320 km/h (199 mph). Well, apparently AMG speed limiters aren't that well thought out, and the video bellow will prove it.
