It's been said over and over again: the E30 M3 might very well be the best M3 ever built. Sure some might argue, some might agree but the fact remains that the first ever M3 was and still is an incredible machine.
It's not just the media and extreme car fanatics that say so, the fact speak for themselves. Drive an E30 M3 around a track and you'll immediately see all why everyone is still so impressed with it, almost 30 years after it was introduced to the public.
Take for example the video below. It features a slightly modified E30 racing on the New Jersey Motorsport Park against a couple of other BMWs, including what seems to be a stock E92 M3.
Not only does the 'granny' manage to keep up with the massive 4-liter V8 under the bonnet of the E92, but it's even more agile around corners, being only overtaken on long straights, where the 420 HP of the S65 engine prove their worth.
Considering the age difference between the two cars, and the engine sizes, it's plain to see now why the E30 M3 is still so very much respected.
