You don’t need to be a rally driver in order to go flat out when in doubt. Amateurs can do this too (hopefully not on public roads), but the professionals will always live up to their name and we’ve got yet another example of this.
We’re talking about a French rally driver who decided to go for a rather special weekend drive a few days ago. Of course, when it comes to rally drivers, such rides are always timed and included in a event.
Jodran Berfa, together with his best man (rally drivers are married to their cars) Damien Augustin, did what many of you have perhaps attempted, driving with the hood up. Nonetheless, while mortals do this in an empty parking lot, these guys went full throttle in the Rallye terre des Cardabelles.
The quick release system of the hood had clearly failed to do its job, or perhaps the humans that were supposed to operate it did, so the crew just decided to pretend there’s a huge metallic decal on their windshield and kept rolling at ten out of ten.
What’s the guy’s secret?
We’re not quite sure here, but perhaps the driver and the copilot simply looked out the side windows. Sure, the Peugeot 308 here is front-wheel driven, but the rally driving techniques bring plenty of sideways action. We are, of course joking, but anybody who has ever attempted this in a parking lot like we said knows you can see ahead of you pretty well though that gap.
Actually, it’s not that uncommon to see rally crews plow through such difficulties, even though we have to admit it’s been a while since we’ve seen such a nice example of determination.
