Occasionally, help comes from the last place you expect it to. Florida police was chasing a reportedly stolen Subaru SUV, when 2 of its 3 occupants decided to try and make an escape on foot.
One of them, the driver, was captured with help from the K9 unit. The other, a female passenger later identified as Jennifer Kaufman, was captured with help from a herd of cows on a nearby pasture. The woman had tried to cross the field on foot, when she was surrounded and then corralled by the bovines.
The third occupant in the car remained inside, and was arrested without incident.
Video captured by a Seminole County Sheriff’s Office helicopter was posted online, showing just how much the cows helped the cops track and capture the woman. Not only did they actively chased her, but they cornered her towards a fence, which is where the cops met her – and cuffed her.
“Actually, a large group of cows is following her for a good visual. It looks like they may attack her,” the officer from the helicopter is heard saying. “She’s pretty far into the field now. If you see the large group of cows, they’re literally following her and chasing her.”
The car chase had ended some while back, when the stolen Subaru SUV crashed near the pasture, just after police officers had tried to disable it with stop sticks. Officers retrieved drugs and drug paraphernalia from it: according to Tampa Bay, they found “more than a gram of cocaine, a crack pipe, syringes and a metal spoon.”
Kaufman was arrested and charged with “petty theft, possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, trespassing, resisting arrest and violation of probation,” as per the same report. She is currently in custody at the Seminole County Jail, awaiting her moment in court.
