We’ve all had our fair share of parking fails over the years. Whether we’ve honked and woken up our neighbors, causing an argument, or barely touched some other car, these little happenings are inevitable. Nonetheless, certain drivers turn these incidents into catastrophes and this is precisely what the man in the clip below does.
The action appears to take place in Brazil, with the video coming to us thanks to a piece of CCTV footage. To put it shortly, the driver of an Opel Zafira A manages to get hit by his own car while parking - since this is happening in Brazil, the MPV is labeled as a Chevrolet, but, in the end, it’s all a piece of Euro-destined GM people-moving metal.
The guy takes the Zafira up a ramp and into a garage and then steps out of is, aiming to exit the garage. Alas, he had forgotten to secure the vehicle against rolling away, so a nasty component of gravity works against the man and sends the car rolling over him.
This is where the really unpleasant part of the story begins, as the man aims to stop the vehicle from crashing. At this point, the guy shows a complete lack of understanding of the laws of physics and the result is ugly.
It’s a pity they didn’t offer automated parking systems at the time...

Perhaps he cared for his Zafira so much because this is actually a... Porsche
OK, we exaggerated a little bit, the Zafira in not a Zuffenhausen machine altogether, but Porsche did have an important contribution in the engineering of the MPV. Back in 1994, Porsche Engineering received an order from Adam Opel AG to develop a compact people mover. Four years later, the Zafira was impressing people with its Flex 7 seat-folding system at the Paris Motor Show. It’s a pity they didn’t offer automated parking systems at the time...
