This year, Mazda’s 45 year history of using the rotary engine came to an end. In June, the last RX-8 rolled off the Mazda production line in Hiroshima. This was the only car in the world produced with this type of system, and we still don’t know for sure if it will make a comeback.
One very proud owner of a turbocharged RX-7 wanted to show his strong love for the rotary with a bit of singling and dancing. And so, Rob Dahm took a section of the block and a piston out for a stroll in the park.
Rob has a bit of a picnic in the park and even takes the Wankel into the bed for a bit of tempering and doing...
Dear Rob, Mazda CEO Takashi Yamanouchi said that the Wankel rotary engine is still a very promising deal for Mazda, despite the fact that the last car to be powered by the legendary unit was phased out in June.
They will likely add SKYACTIV tech to the rotary and also use it in the next MX-5 that’s being co-developed with Alfa Romeo.
