When BMW initially introduced the X6, many rushed to say that this is an exaggerated development. However, the Sports Activity Vehicle has been so successful that now Audi and Mercedes are working to introduce similar vehicles.
In a recent interview for Autonews Europe, Walter de Silva, head of VW Group design, confirmed the fact that Audi will release such a model. This is expected to be based on the Q5’s platform and offer a turbo-only engine range.
"We will definitely launch a sportier crossover in between the Q7 and Q5," de' Silva told the aforementioned source.
He went on to explain that the company may go even further, as it is currently considering a compact sports crossover that would be slotted between the Q5 and Q3 and use the Q4 designation. This would fight BMW’s upcoming X4 model
