Volkswagen Passenger Cars has announced their deliveries were up 11.9% to 468,300 for the month of July. Demand in China is to blame for this substantial increase, as the People’s Republic compensated for the continued European slowdown.
For the first seven months of the year, VW sales rose by over 10% to 3.26 million vehicles. This shows a pick-up in demand from the first half of the year.
During the first seven months of the year, VW car sales were down 5% in Europe to 528,200 units. The state of the economy is expected to affect the overall car market in Europe, where a 7% drop is expected this year.
But perhaps the biggest good news for VW is not in the sales figures yet. The new Golf will be shown in Paris and will become available this November.
“The Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand has grown global deliveries further despite the continued difficult market situation, above all in Western Europe”, Christian Klingler, Board Member for Sales and Marketing for the Volkswagen Group and the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand, said in Wolfsburg on Wednesday.
