Here at autoevolution, we think that information belongs to the internet, but where it was revealed is also important. Sure, the relevance of a product, especially a car, doesn’t lie in the amount of air-time it gets on TV, but it doesn't hurt either!
During this year’s Super Bowl, Volkswagen came forth with “The Force” commercial, about the all-new 2012 Passat and a little kid who thinks he’s Darth Vader, which quickly became viral, becoming one of the most popular commercials of all time. They also showed a sort of teaser for the 2012 Beetle, featuring an actual bug, but which never became as popular.
Now, the German automaker has come forth with an announcement, saying a single new minute-long spot will be aired at the next Super Sowl early next year, once again for the Beetle. Right now, there isn’t much that marketing teams can do for the Bug right now, so we suspect they’ll show something new, like the Beetle R or the convertible.
But that’s only speculation, since all we have to do is wait for the teaser video for the commercial to be shown.
“Volkswagen is excited to showcase the all-new 2012 Beetle on football’s biggest stage. The Super Bowl is the perfect platform to feature the bold, dynamic, and sportiest Beetle ever made,” said Tim Mahoney, Chief Product and Marketing Officer, Volkswagen of America.
