When we drove the VW Transporter, we discovered not just a trusty partner that can wear both an office attire and rubber boots, but also an extremely fun car hidden in a van apparel. Our test car was powered by a 140 hp 2.0-liter TDI oil burner, which seemed like a perfect compromise, but VW also offers a 102 hp version of the same engine.
Being almost 40 hp down compared to what we drove, this has to be underpowered, but the aftermarket world offers plenty of solutions for that and we’re here to talk about a new one. German tuner mcchip-dkr recently released an ECU remap package for the 102 hp 2.0 TDI unit, which offers two power upgrade stages.
Level One brings the unit from 102 hp and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) to 135 hp and 310 Nm (229 lb-ft), while Level Two allows the driver to control 155 hp and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque.
