VW Scirocco in the US? Yup, That's Doable.

The United States is one of the few markets that haven't got the occasion to see the new incarnation of the Scirocco on local streets but it seems like this could change very soon. Jonathan Browning, the head of Volkswagen's US business, hopes the Scirocco will hit the United States sometimes in the near future, but avoids giving us a date for this to happen. He admits however that there are a few things to be resolved before launching the hot model in the US.

"I'd love to ... We were not able to make the case to bring it in this (product) cycle, but in the future, I'd love to see it here in the U.S.," he was quoted as saying by USA Today.

Browning said that the United States, just like the rest of the markets, is part of Volkswagen's strategy to become the number one carmaker by 2018 so, in order to reach this goal, the company has to concentrate on certain aspects before proceeding to launching new models in the country. One of these would be improving the dealership relation, as it seems that customers are still not satisfied with the way a new vehicle acquisition goes after stepping in a VW store for the first time.

"We know that we simply must improve our quality,"
he explained.

Volkswagen Scirocco is offered in Europe with three different engine options, the most powerful being the 2.0-liter TSI that delivers a maximum of 200 horsepower at 5,100 rpm and 280 Nm of torque between 1700 and 5000 rpm. In terms of performance, it means the Scirocco can run from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 7.2 seconds, while achieving a top speed of 235 km/h (146 mph).
