If you live outside of South America, it is very unlikely that you have ever heard of the Volkswagen Gol. We are sure you are also not aware of the fact that it has been the best selling car in the region, for the last 30 years, selling more than 5-million examples.
The current generation Gol has been around since 2009, and it shares its platform with the SEAT Ibiza and Toledo, VW Polo, Audi A1 and the new Skoda Rapid. It features a redesigned front fascia, bringing its design more in-line with the rest of the range, as well as a redesigned rear end, featuring new lights.
Inside, changes are more sparse, and are limited to a few pieces of trim and buttons. However, the main addition of this facelift is the introduction of a bi-fueled 1-liter engine, which works fine on gasoline, putting out 72 hp, but it works even better on ethanol, which enables it to produce 4 hp more, totaling 76.
Along with the Gol, VW of South America have also presented a redesigned version of the Voyage, the sedan variant of the Gol, and it pretty much benefits from the same changes and also features new (but different) rear lights.
